FREE South Dakota DMV Practice Test #7 Page 3 of 3
The DMV practise exams in South Dakota have been updated for January 2025. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2025 from the South Dakota Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Dakota DMV test.
You must properly answer 20 of the 25 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
17 . This sign means:

This sign informs drivers that they are leaving a divided roadway and approaching a two-way highway.
18 . What is the purpose of rumble strips?
Rumble strips create noise and vibrations to warn drowsy or inattentive drivers that they are straying off of the road or are approaching a stop sign or signal.
19 . When approaching a stopped school bus that has its stop signal arm extended and its lights flashing, drivers should:
When you are approaching a school bus that is stopped with its stop arm extended and lights flashing, come to a complete stop. Remain stopped until the stop signal is retracted and the flashing lights are turned off.
20 . If you are continually being passed on the right and the left while driving in the center lane of an expressway, you should:
If a road has four or more lanes with two-way traffic, drive in the right lanes unless you are passing or turning left. If you are on an interstate highway and are driving below the speed of the flow of traffic, use the right lane.
21 . At an intersection with stop signs on all corners, yield the right-of-way to any driver:
After coming to a full stop, vehicles should proceed through a four-way stop in the order in which they arrive to the intersection. If multiple vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle on the left must yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.
22 . Drivers must use their parking brake:
Always set your parking brake when you park. Leave the vehicle in gear if it has a manual transmission or in “Park” if it has an automatic transmission.
23 . When driving in fog, it is best to drive with:
Use your low beam headlights when driving in fog, rain, or snow. High beam lights can reflect off the weather conditions, lowering visibility even more.
24 . Slowing down just to look at collisions or anything else out-of-the-ordinary:
Avoid "rubbernecking," or slowing down to look at collisions or anything else out-of-the-ordinary. This helps to relieve traffic congestion.
25 . When driving at night on a dimly lit street, you should:
You should drive more slowly at night than during the day because it is not possible to see as far ahead at night. You should make sure that you can stop within the area illuminated by your headlights.
