FREE South Dakota DMV Practice Test #11
The DMV practise exams in South Dakota have been updated for January 2024. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the South Dakota Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Dakota DMV test.
You must properly answer 20 of the 25 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
1 . When changing lanes:
When changing lanes, glance over your shoulder to check for traffic in your blind spot. You may need to look several times before changing lanes. You must keep track of what traffic is doing in front of you as well as what traffic is doing in the lane next to you.
2 . If you see a pedestrian using a guide dog or carrying a white cane:
Blind or partially blind pedestrians may carry a white cane or use the assistance of a guide dog. You must yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian with a guide dog or a white cane.
3 . Which lane must you be in before making a left turn from a one-way street?
When making any turn, turn from the lane closest to the direction you wish to travel into the first available legal lane. If you are making a left turn from a one-way street, this means that you would make the turn from the lane nearest to the left curb.
4 . If you are facing a green traffic light but the intersection ahead is blocked by traffic, you should:
Even if you are facing a green traffic light, do not start across the intersection if there are other vehicles blocking your way. If you are caught in the intersection when the light changes to red, your vehicle will block cross traffic. You can get a ticket for blocking an intersection.
5 . Extra space in front of a large truck is needed for:
Because they are larger, trucks take longer to stop than cars traveling at the same speed. Other drivers should not pull in front of a truck and then slow down or stop.
6 . You should allow an extra cushion of space:
Drivers of trucks, buses, vans, or any vehicles pulling campers or trailers may not be able to see you if you are driving directly behind them. Increase your following distance when driving behind one of these vehicles. Additionally, large vehicles can block your view of the road, so increase your following distance to look around the sides of the vehicle and see the road ahead.
7 . When stopped for a traffic violation, a driver must produce:
When stopped for a traffic violation, a driver must produce their license, proof of registration, and proof of insurance. Drivers are required to have all three of these documents in a vehicle any time it is being driven.
8 . When passing another vehicle, you should return to your original lane when:
When passing another vehicle, move back into your original lane only when you can see the passed vehicle’s headlights in your rearview mirror. This ensures that you will have enough room to safely pull back in front of the other vehicle.
