FREE South Dakota DMV Practice Test #16
The DMV practise exams in South Dakota have been updated for January 2025. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2025 from the South Dakota Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Dakota DMV test.
You must properly answer 20 of the 25 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
1 . When making a left turn, you should not:
When turning left, you should slow down and activate your turn signal before making the turn. Be careful not to cut the corner short, as this may interfere with traffic.
2 . When passing another car, you have enough space to return to the driving lane:
Before you return to the driving lane when completing a pass, be sure there is a safe gap between your vehicle and the passed vehicle. When you can see both headlights of the vehicle in your rearview mirror, it is safe to return to the driving lane.
3 . When may you legally drive around or under a railroad crossing gate?
Do not go around or under any lowered gate at a railroad crossing. Once the gate is raised, do not proceed across the tracks until you can see clearly in both directions and are sure there are no trains coming.
4 . Check your rearview mirrors:
When driving, do not develop a fixed stare. Frequently check your rearview mirrors so you know the positions of vehicles near you.
5 . There are two traffic lanes moving in your direction. You are driving in the left lane and many vehicles are passing you on the right. If the driver behind you wishes to drive faster, you should:
To drive quickly, pass, or turn left, use the left lane. Use the right lane when driving more slowly than surrounding traffic, entering the road, or turning right.
6 . When driving under low-visibility conditions due to fog, you should:
When driving in fog, you should slow down and use your low beam lights. If the fog is so dense that you cannot see, pull off the road and wait for the fog to clear.
7 . Handicap parking spaces are available:
Reserved handicap parking spaces should be used only by persons with a disability as defined under state law. To park in a handicap parking space, you must have either the appropriate license plate or designated hang tag displaying the international symbol.
8 . To see objects in their blind spot when changing lanes, drivers should check:
Your vehicle's blind spots are the areas that you cannot see in your mirrors. Look over the appropriate shoulder to check your blind spot when changing lanes.
