FREE South Dakota DMV Practice Test #14 Page 3 of 3
The DMV practise exams in South Dakota have been updated for January 2024. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the South Dakota Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Dakota DMV test.
You must properly answer 20 of the 25 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
17 . If weather or light conditions require you to have your lights on while driving:
Use your low beam headlights when driving in foggy, snowy, or rainy conditions. Light from high beam headlights will reflect back, causing glare and making it even more difficult to see ahead.

When turning a sharp corner, turn the steering wheel by using the hand-over-hand technique. When you complete the turn, straighten out the steering wheel by hand.
19 . If you come to an intersection and your view to the side is blocked, you should:
Drivers must slow down when approaching an intersection. If a clear view of cross traffic is obscured, a driver should come to a stop and inch forward until they can see clearly in both directions.
20 . When driving at night on a dimly lit street, you should:
You should drive more slowly at night than during the day because it is not possible to see as far ahead at night. You should make sure that you can stop within the area illuminated by your headlights.
21 . If you come to an intersection controlled by a flashing yellow light, you must:
A flashing yellow traffic light means drivers must slow down, be more aware, and proceed with caution. Be alert to crossing traffic and pedestrians.
22 . When changing lanes:
Before changing lanes, you should check your side mirrors and look over your shoulder to make sure it is safe to proceed.
23 . When entering the interstate on a short entrance ramp where there is no acceleration lane, you should:
When entering the interstate on a short entrance ramp where there is no acceleration lane, speed up only after you have identified a gap in traffic. In general, you should be stopped while waiting for a gap to appear.
24 . Accumulating ____ on your license within a 12-month period will result in the suspension of your license.
Certain offenses committed while driving will count against a driver in South Dakota's system of suspending driver licenses. If a driver accrues 15 points or more within a 12-month period, their license will be suspended. Lengths of suspension vary based on how many offenses the driver has committed.
25 . Which of the following driving skills is/are affected by the use of alcohol and/or drugs?
