FREE Rhode Island DMV Practice Test #9 Page 4 of 4
The DMV practise exams in Rhode Island have been updated for January 2024. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the Rhode Island Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Rhode Island DMV test.
You must properly answer 21 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
25 . A yellow light that flashes on and off means:
A flashing yellow traffic light means drivers should slow down and proceed with caution.
26 . You are driving when your power steering stops working. You should:
If your power steering stops working, additional effort will be required to maintain steering control. Reduce your speed and pull off the roadway to stop in a safe area.
27 . Water on the road can cause a vehicle to hydroplane. Your car may hydroplane at speeds as low as:
Hydroplaning occurs when there is standing water on a roadway. At speeds up to 35 mph, most tires will channel water away from the tire. As your speed increases past 35 mph, tires cannot channel the water as well and your tires may start to lose contact with the road and ride over the water like a set of water skis.
28 . At a school crossing sign, you should:
You must always yield to pedestrians who are in or about to enter a crosswalk. Be alert to pedestrians when driving across intersections or turning.
29 . Always stop before crossing railroad tracks when:
Expect a train on any track, at any time, traveling in either direction. If you need to stop after crossing the tracks, wait until you can completely cross the tracks before proceeding. Make sure your vehicle clears the tracks before you stop.
30 . Where may drivers make a U-turn?
A U-turn is a 180-degree turn that resembles the shape of the letter "U" and reverses your direction of travel. You may not make a U-turn unless you can do so safely and without disrupting other traffic.
