FREE Rhode Island DMV Practice Test #15 Page 2 of 4
The DMV practise exams in Rhode Island have been updated for January 2025. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2025 from the Rhode Island Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Rhode Island DMV test.
You must properly answer 21 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
9 . What should you be most concerned about when you see this sign?
This sign indicates that the shoulder is lower than the road in the area ahead. If you drift off of the roadway and one wheel drops onto a low shoulder, do not slam on the brakes or steer sharply to try to get back onto the roadway. This could easily cause you to lose control of your vehicle.
10 . Remove all snow, frost, and ice from:
It is important that you are able to see clearly through all of your vehicle's windows, including the windshield. Remove all snow, ice, and frost from your vehicle's windows and mirrors before you start to drive.
11 . If you stop along the road at night:
If you stop along the road at night, turn on your emergency flashers and leave your low beam headlights turned on. Be sure that other road users will be able to clearly see your vehicle.
12 . If a traffic light shows both a red light and a green arrow, a driver may not turn in the direction of the arrow until the red light has changed.
After yielding the right-of-way to traffic within an intersection or crosswalk, a driver may go in the direction a green arrow is pointing, regardless of other lights present.
13 . Increase your following distance when driving behind a large vehicle:
Drivers of trucks, buses, vans, and any vehicles pulling campers or trailers may not be able to see you if you are driving directly behind them. Increase your following distance when driving behind one of these vehicles. Additionally, large vehicles can block your view of the road, so increase your following distance to look around the sides of the vehicle and see the road ahead.
14 . How do you check your blind spots?
Blind spots are areas around your vehicle that you cannot see by using your mirrors. Check your blind spots by turning your head and glancing over your shoulders.
15 . You may not complete a turnabout:
If you intend to make a turnabout, you must first be sure that it is permitted in the area. Observe your surroundings and check for hills and curves, signs prohibiting turnabouts, double yellow lines, traffic, and visibility.
16 . When approaching an intersection with a flashing red light, you must:
A flashing red traffic light means the same thing as a stop sign. When arriving at an intersection with a flashing red light, you must come to a full stop and proceed when it is safe to do so.
