Who is required to wear a seat belt?

Under Michigan’s seat belt and child-safety restraint laws, a law enforcement officer may stop a vehicle if the driver and occupants are not properly buckled up. The driver, any front seat passenger, and any child under the age of 16 is required to wear a seat belt in a moving vehicle.
