FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #16 Page 6 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
41 . Headlights must be used:
Drivers must use their headlights between sunset and sunrise. You should use lower headlight beams, not your bright lights, when approaching within 500 feet of or following within 300 feet of another vehicle.
42 . You want to make a right turn at the corner. A pedestrian with a guide dog is at the corner ready to cross the street in front of you. Before making your right turn, you should:
Pedestrians using guide dogs or white canes (with or without a red tip) must be given the right-of-way at all times.
43 . When may you park directly across the street from the entrance of a fire station?
Some municipal ordinances do not allow you to park in certain areas. Drivers may not park within 15 feet of a driveway entrance to a fire station or directly across the street from the entrance.
44 . You do not have to stop for a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing if it is on a private road.
When a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm out, other drivers are required to stop. This law applies to drivers traveling on both public and private roads.
45 . When should drivers use their turn signals?
Always signal before changing lanes, when entering or exiting the freeway, and when making a turn. Drivers around you can then react to your movements and a collision is less likely.
46 . How far from the steering wheel should a driver sit?
If your vehicle has an airbag, you should be at least 12 to 15 inches away from the steering wheel. Don’t move your seat so far forward that you can’t steer properly.
48 . Dashed lines separating lanes of traffic indicate a no passing zone.
Solid lines are used to indicate areas where it is not safe to pass. Dashed lines are used to indicate areas where drivers may pass, if it is safe to do so.
49 . What might happen when alcohol is combined with another drug?
Consuming both alcohol and another drug may enhance the effects of both. For example, taking one drink when you are also using a cold remedy could affect you as if you have had several drinks.
50 . You are coming to an intersection and have a green light. Pedestrians are crossing against the red. You should:
Yield to pedestrians and cars that may be caught in an intersection when you have a green light. Be careful around pedestrians under every circumstance.
