This set of practise tests for the Hawaii DMV include questions based on the most important traffic signs and legislation from the Hawaii Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.

Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as information from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official DMV test.

You must properly answer 24 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Hawaii instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.

The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.

Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.

Do you currently have car insurance?

Before you start the test, please answer the following question regarding your insurance status.

Without insurance you will not be able to drive in Hawaii

13 . You are driving on the roadway and there is an emergency vehicle using its siren and flashing lights directly behind you. You are in heavy traffic and cannot get out of its way. You should:

Keep moving slowly until you can get out of its way. If an emergency vehicle is directly behind your vehicle while you are in heavy traffic, continue moving slowly until you can get out of its way. When possible, you must clear a path for the emergency vehicle.

14 . You are stopped in a line of vehicles waiting at a stop sign. If there is no cross traffic after the vehicles ahead have passed through the intersection, you:

May follow the vehicle directly ahead of you without stopping. You must always bring your vehicle to a complete stop and yield to approaching traffic before proceeding past a stop sign. Don't feel pressured by surrounding traffic to avoid making a complete stop.

15 . The act of turning your head and checking your blind spot before changing lanes, driving away from a curb, or merging your vehicle into traffic is:

Not necessary if you use the rearview mirror. When changing lanes, it is important to check your blind spots. Do this by looking over your shoulder toward the next lane. Do not rely only on your mirrors.

16 . Your blind spot is the area of the road:

You see in your side mirror. Blind spots are areas that a driver cannot see without moving their head. They can be located to the sides of and behind a vehicle.

17 . If someone is driving aggressively behind you, you should:

Block the passing lane. If you encounter an aggressive driver, you should make every attempt to get out of their way. You should avoid making eye contact with a hostile driver. Challenging a hostile driver by speeding up may only make them angrier, thereby increasing their danger.

18 . It is illegal for a person 21 years of age or older to drive with a minimum blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of:

0.1 percent. For drivers age 21 or older, it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher. Driving while under the influence of alcohol is not only illegal, but dangerous.
