FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #6 Page 2 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
9 . Where should you use high beam headlights?
Use high beam headlights whenever there are no nearby vehicles. High beams let you see twice as far as low beams. Be sure to use high beams on unfamiliar roads, in construction areas, or where there may be people along the side of the road.
10 . You may start a pass in a passing zone even if you will be unable to complete the pass before the passing zone ends.
Maine law requires that you complete a pass before you reach the beginning of a no passing zone. It is unsafe to be in the middle of a pass when entering a no passing zone.
11 . The presence of double solid yellow lines means you may pass another vehicle from either direction.
A double solid yellow line means that it is prohibited for vehicles traveling in either direction to cross the centerline to pass.
12 . Posters, signs, and window decals on the windshield and windows:
Obstructions on windows are prohibited. No sign, poster, or sticker may be placed on any window of a vehicle, unless it is specifically required by law to be on a vehicle's window.
13 . When two vehicles arrive to an intersection at the same time, which one has the right-of-way when no signs or signals indicate rules?
At an intersection of two similar roads without a traffic control device, a driver must yield to a vehicle approaching from the right.
14 . To check your blind spot before changing lanes:
To check your blind spot before changing lanes, you should look over your shoulder in the direction that you plan to move.
15 . Prior to entering a curve:
You may drive more slowly than the posted speed limit, based on road conditions, but it is illegal to drive any faster than the posted speed limit. Some conditions which require reduced speed for safety include approaching curves or hills where visibility is limited, driving on slippery roads, and driving on roads where animals and pedestrians are present.
16 . What do large flashing arrow panels indicate?
Large flashing or sequential arrow panels are used in construction areas where a lane is closed. Prepare to slow down and merge in the direction indicated by the arrow.
