FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #11 Page 3 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
17 . The faster the speed of your vehicle, the longer it takes to stop when you must react to other drivers' unexpected movements.
The faster you are driving, the longer it will take for you to stop to react to other drivers' unexpected moves.
18 . Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit outside of a business or residential area is:
When driving outside of a business or residential area, the speed limit is 45 miles per hour. If a different speed limit is posted, follow the posted limit.
19 . You are involved in an accident. You should:
If involved in an accident, you should stop your vehicle immediately. If possible, move the vehicle out of the way of traffic. Call the nearest police agency and ask for an ambulance, if necessary. Do not move the injured unnecessarily, but attempt to stop severe bleeding with direct pressure. Wait for emergency vehicles to arrive.
20 . If you are following a driver who seems distracted, you should:
Even when others can see you, allow extra room if you think they may be distracted. Distracted driving causes a large portion of collisions and increasing your following distance may help prevent a potential collision.
21 . How often should drivers check their mirrors for traffic behind them?
Check your mirrors for traffic behind you every six to eight seconds. It is important to know if someone is following your vehicle too closely or coming up too fast. It is also important to know how much space you have behind your car.
22 . If you are driving in another driver's blind spot, you should:
Do not drive in someone else’s blind spot. Move forward or drop back so that the other driver can see you.
23 . Downward-facing triangular signs:
Downward-facing triangular signs usually indicate that drivers should yield. Once the road is clear of traffic or pedestrians and it is safe to do so, drivers may proceed.
24 . To help prevent crashes, you should:
Crashes often happen because one driver does something that other road users are not expecting. You should communicate with other motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians by doing things like signaling when slowing down, stopping, or changing direction. Use your emergency signals or horn when appropriate.
