FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #10 Page 5 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
33 . Before passing another vehicle, you should signal:
Before passing, you should signal early enough for other drivers to know your plans in advance.
34 . To know where traffic is behind you:
Drivers should check their rearview mirrors often to stay aware of the position of traffic behind them.
35 . You may pass a vehicle when:
A single broken line indicates that drivers may cross from either lane to change lanes. Dashed yellow lines alongside solid yellow lines indicate that passing is permitted from the lane next to the broken line, but not from the lane next to the solid line. Only change lanes when it is safe to do so.
36 . Larger vehicles have:
The larger the vehicle, the larger the blind spots. Large trucks and SUVs have spots close to their rears that cannot be seen in their side or rearview mirrors.
37 . An approaching driver fails to dim their high beam headlights. Where should you look?
If an approaching driver fails to dim their high beams, glance toward the right side of the road. This will keep you from being blinded by the other vehicle’s headlights and will allow you to see enough of the road to stay on course until the other vehicle has passed.
38 . Because driving involves some risk, it is wise to continually improve your driving and observation skills.
Driving can become unsafe if drivers believe they have nothing to improve. For your safety and the safety of others, always strive to improve your driving and observation skills.
39 . Give the right-of-way to any pedestrian who is:
Drivers must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians who are crossing the street in any marked or unmarked crosswalk. In the interest of safety, drivers should yield the right-of-way to people crossing any street.
40 . When entering a freeway, you should look for a gap of ____ seconds.
Before entering a freeway, you should identify a four-second gap in traffic. This space should give both you and the car behind you a two-second following distance when you merge into the lane.
