FREE Iowa DMV Practice Test #10 Page 2 of 5
The DMV practise tests in Iowa have been updated for January 2024. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Iowa Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as information from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Iowa DMV test.
You must properly answer 28 of the 35 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Iowa instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.

It is unlawful for any driver in Iowa to read, write, or send a text message while driving. Before using an electronic communication device to write, send, or read a text message, a driver must safely bring their vehicle to a complete stop off the traveled portion of the roadway.

When making a left turn, you should always begin signaling about 100 feet before the turn. You should keep your front wheels aiming straight ahead until it is safe to start your turn. This ensures that you will not be pushed into oncoming traffic if another vehicle hits you from behind.
12 . When entering an interstate highway, you should:
Rather than stopping (as you would when entering other roads), you must use the merging or acceleration lane to speed up and smoothly merge with fast-moving traffic already on the interstate.
13 . According to the Iowa Implied Consent Law:
Under Iowa's Implied Consent Law, any peace officer may ask you to submit to a breath, urine, or blood test if the officer feels you may be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This applies to both resident and non-resident drivers. If you take the test and fail, or you refuse to take the test, your license can be taken away on the spot.
14 . This sign means:
Warning signs prepare drivers for upcoming road conditions and hazards and are usually yellow with black markings. This sign alerts drivers to potential bicycle cross traffic.
15 . If bad weather makes it difficult for you to see clearly, you should:
When it is difficult to see due to darkness or poor weather, increase your following distance. This will give you more time to react to hazards that you may not see in advance.
16 . If you want to enter the freeway but you don't see a gap in traffic, you should:
If you want to enter the freeway but do not see a space for your vehicle in traffic, slow down on the ramp to wait for a gap. Do not drive to the end of the ramp and wait for a gap or you will not have enough room to accelerate to the speed of traffic before entering the roadway.
