This Alaska DMV practise tests contain questions based on the most essential traffic signs and limitations from the Alaska Driver Handbook. Use actual questions that are very close (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam to prepare for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.

To help you recall the topics, each practise test question includes a suggestion and explanation. The written component of the official DMV test will include questions about road rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as information from the Driver Handbook.

To get the required passing mark, you must correctly answer 16 out of 20 questions. Take our DMV practise exam to help you prepare for your Alaska instruction permit or driver's licence.

The DMV exam is available in multiple languages.

Using any form of testing aid will result in an automatic failure, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so don't do it.

1 . The penalty for driving a vehicle without valid liability insurance is license suspension for a minimum of:

30 days. The Mandatory Insurance Law requires every vehicle to be covered by liability insurance. If you are involved in an accident while uninsured, or if you fail to provide proof of insurance within 15 days of the accident, your license will be suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

2 . When approaching a steady yellow traffic light, drivers should:

Check to see what the cars next to them are doing. A steady yellow traffic light indicates that a red light is about to appear. Stop unless you are already within the intersection.

3 . A leaky exhaust system in your vehicle is dangerous because it can cause:

Poor engine performance. The exhaust system carries exhaust gas out of the vehicle and prevents fumes from entering into the passenger compartment. To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, keep your exhaust system free of leaks. Replace all defective parts immediately.

4 . If an officer is directing traffic at a working traffic light, drivers should:

Check to see what the cars next to them are doing. Traffic signals are placed at intersections to keep traffic moving and to help prevent crashes. Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists must obey these signals, except in instances when an officer is directing traffic.

5 . You must indicate your intention to turn at least ____ before turning.

300 feet A hand or mechanical turn signal must be displayed for a minimum of 100 feet before a vehicle turns or changes lanes. The signal should be displayed for a longer distance when the vehicle is traveling at a high speed.

6 . You are driving on a busy street and your vehicle’s accelerator sticks open. You should:

Turn off your ignition, taking care not to engage the steering wheel locking mechanism. If your vehicle’s accelerator sticks open, your vehicle will continue to maintain its speed or accelerate, even if you remove your foot from the gas pedal. Turn off the ignition, using care to move the ignition switch only far enough to stop the engine and not engage the steering wheel locking mechanism. Apply your brakes and move off the road to a safe area.
