FREE South Carolina DMV Practice Test #23 Page 2 of 4
The DMV practise exams in South Carolina have been updated for January 2024. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the South Carolina Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Carolina DMV test.
You must properly answer 24 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.

Be aware of other warning signs that may indicate an oncoming train, including seeing a lowered crossing gate or hearing an oncoming train.

A five-sided yellow or yellow-green sign alerts drivers to either a school zone or school crossing.

Passing areas are based on how far ahead drivers can see. Allow the passing vehicle to re-enter the drive lane as easily as possible to help everyone avoid potential upcoming hazards.
14 . You may cross double yellow lines to pass another vehicle if the:
A broken yellow line in the center of the road indicates that traffic next to the broken yellow line may pass, if it is safe to do so.
15 . Which of the following road surfaces freezes first?
Pavement on bridges and overpasses can become icy even when other surrounding pavement is dry. Bridges often freeze before, and thaw out after, the rest of a road.
16 . When you are in a line of traffic that is crossing a railroad track that has no signals or gates:
If you are following another vehicle at a railroad crossing, check to make sure you have enough room to get all the way across before you drive onto the tracks. You should never try to pass another vehicle as you approach or cross a railroad crossing. Always check for trains before crossing any railroad tracks.
