FREE South Carolina DMV Practice Test #8
The DMV practise exams in South Carolina have been updated for January 2024. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the South Carolina Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Carolina DMV test.
You must properly answer 24 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
1 . This sign means:
This sign indicates that the road that you are on intersects with a divided highway. A divided highway is two one-way roadways separated by a median or guide rail.
2 . When a car with bright headlights drives toward you at night, you should:
To avoid being blinded when driving at night, do not look directly at the headlights of oncoming cars. Instead, look toward the right edge of the road until the oncoming driver has passed.
3 . You are approaching an intersection when the traffic light changes from green to solid yellow. You should:
When approaching an intersection with a solid yellow traffic light, slow to a stop before entering the intersection, if it is safe to do so. If you can't stop safely, drive carefully through the intersection.
4 . You are driving on the freeway. The vehicle in front of you is a large truck. You should drive:
When you follow so closely behind a truck that you cannot see the truck driver’s side view mirrors, the trucker cannot see you and has no way of knowing you are there. Tailgating a truck, or any vehicle, is dangerous because you take away your own cushion of safety if the vehicle in front of you stops quickly.
5 . If an oncoming driver is heading toward you in your lane, you should:
If another vehicle is approaching you head-on in your lane, you should first honk your horn to attract attention. If the other driver does not move over, try to escape to the right. If you swerve left and the other driver corrects at the last instant, you will still crash. If a collision is unavoidable, brake firmly and steadily. Every mile per hour you slow down will reduce the impact.
6 . Who must wear seat belts in a moving vehicle?
The use of safety belts is required by law. Everyone in a moving vehicle must properly use their seat belt.
7 . This road sign means:
Warning signs are usually yellow with black markings. This sign warns drivers that the upcoming road will curve right, followed by a curve to the left. Drivers should adjust their speed to safely continue on the road.
8 . Which drivers are subject to the South Carolina Point System?
A license to drive confers a privilege, not a right. You may keep this privilege only as long as you drive safely. Your license will be suspended if you accumulate 12 points for violations committed inside or outside of the state.
