FREE South Carolina DMV Practice Test #13 Page 4 of 4
The DMV practise exams in South Carolina have been updated for January 2025. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2025 from the South Carolina Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Carolina DMV test.
You must properly answer 24 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
24 . When approaching an intersection controlled by a flashing yellow light, you must:
A traffic signal displaying a flashing yellow light indicates that you should be alert and proceed with caution. Slow down when approaching a flashing yellow traffic signal.
25 . A driver need not stop for a stopped school bus when traveling in the opposite direction on a four-lane roadway.
On a highway with four or more lanes, you must stop for a school bus loading or unloading passengers only when you are traveling behind it. You must still drive with special caution when driving near children.
26 . A solid yellow line on your side of the centerline means:
Solid yellow lines on two-lane roads indicate zones where passing is prohibited. If a solid yellow line appears next to a broken yellow line, drivers in the lane nearest to the solid yellow line may not pass. In some instances, both yellow lines will be solid, indicating that it is not safe to pass from either direction.
27 . When you see this sign, it means:
Chevron signs like this indicate that the road curves sharply in the direction indicated by the chevron (in this case, to the left). There may be several chevron signs placed throughout a curve.
28 . Motorists are not required to yield to pedestrians when they walk against a traffic light.
Drivers should always be willing to give a pedestrian the right-of-way, regardless of whether or not they are legally entitled to it. Always yield the right-of-way to pedestrians, motor vehicles, bicyclists, or anyone else who has moved into an intersection before you.
29 . At a railroad crossing, you must:
You must approach all railroad crossings with extreme caution and cross only when you know that no train is coming from either direction. Be aware of vehicles that must stop at all railroad crossings, such as school buses and trucks carrying hazardous materials.
