FREE North Carolina DMV Practice Test #7
The DMV practise exams in North Carolina have been updated for January 2024. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation in the North Carolina Driver Handbook for 2024. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official North Carolina DMV test.
You must properly answer 32 of the 37 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence, take this practise test from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
1 . If it has been previously suspended and reinstated, your license will be suspended for accumulating ____ points within a three-year period.
If you are convicted of certain motor vehicle violations in North Carolina, points will be placed against your driving record. Accumulating eight points against a previously-suspended license will again result in suspension. A second suspension will last for six months and a third will last for 12 months.
2 . Which of the following about winter driving is not true?
You should not use cruise control on snow, in rain, in fog, or under similar hazardous conditions. Winter is the most difficult driving season and requires extra caution from drivers. It is important to consistently check your antifreeze and windshield washer fluid levels. Using snow tires can increase a vehicle's traction on the surface of slippery roads.
3 . This sign means:
Regulation signs regulate traffic speed and movement, displaying rules which drivers must obey. This sign tells drivers the direction in which they must drive when turning onto a one-way street.
4 . You are coming to an intersection with a flashing yellow light. You should:
A flashing yellow light means that you should proceed through the intersection slowly and with caution. Scan your eyes across traffic in both directions.
5 . At a light rail intersection, always:
You should never drive around lowered crossing gates. Always look both ways before turning across train tracks and always obey signs and traffic signals. Trains share the road with motor vehicles and bicyclists.
6 . If a vehicle using high beams comes toward you, you should look toward ____ of the road.
If a vehicle approaching you is using its high beams and fails to dim them, you should glance toward the right side of the road. This will keep you from being blinded by the other vehicle’s headlights and will allow you to see well enough to stay on your course until the vehicle passes.
7 . This road sign means:
This sign (with the arrow below) indicates the location of a bicycle crossing/path. Drive with caution around this sign because bicycles likely regularly cross or ride beside traffic in the area.
8 . This road sign means:
This sign indicates that the road ahead winds with a series of turns or curves.
9 . When driving in fog, drivers should use:
If you must drive during fog, turn on the low beam headlights. Reduce your driving speed and be alert for taillights of the vehicle in front of you.
