FREE Virginia DMV Practice Test #23 Page 5 of 5
The practise exams for the Virginia DMV have been updated for January 2024. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the Virginia Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Virginia DMV test.
You must properly answer 30 of the 35 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
29 . Before passing another vehicle, you should signal:
Before passing, you should signal early enough for other drivers to know your plans in advance.
30 . When approaching road construction or maintenance areas:
When driving near traffic control devices in a work zone, you should drive near the middle of your lane and obey the posted speed limit. Do not change lanes until you are completely clear of the work zone. Flashing arrow panels, message boards, work zone signs, and flaggers may give special instructions.
31 . A license will be suspended if a driver:
By operating a vehicle on Virginia roadways, a driver automatically consents to taking a chemical test to determine their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) when requested to do so by an officer. If a driver refuses the test, their license can be suspended or revoked.
32 . While driving, you come upon a sign displaying the words “Reduced speed, 35 mph." This means:
"Reduced speed" signs inform drivers that they must reduce their speeds. If a new speed limit is posted on one of these signs, the new speed limit begins at the sign.
33 . DMV's vision standard is:
To get an unrestricted driver license, you must have 20/40 or better vision in one or both eyes. You must also have 110 degrees (or better) horizontal vision in one or both eyes, or a comparable measurement that shows a field of vision within this range.
34 . Nighttime is the safest time for cyclists to ride their bikes.
A bicycle is difficult to see in the dark, even when the cyclist is wearing a proper headlight and reflector. Both motorists and bicyclists should be especially alert when driving at night in order to prevent dangerous collisions.
35 . The posted maximum speed limit is the fastest you can drive in an area.
The posted maximum speed limit is the fastest legal driving speed in an area, under ideal conditions. You must reduce your speed when conditions require it, such as when the roadway is slippery or when it is difficult to see clearly down the road.
