FREE Texas DMV Practice Test #21 Page 2 of 5
For January 2025, the Texas DMV practise exams have been revised. It comprises questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2025 from the Texas Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Texas DMV test.
You must properly answer 21 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
7 . Which of the following must you obey over the other three?
Directions given by traffic officers take precedence over signs, signals, and pavement markings. People authorized to direct traffic include police officers, fire police, highway work area flag persons, and school crossing persons.
8 . You may park directly across the street from the entrance of a fire station:
Drivers may not park within 20 feet of a fire station's entrance when on the same side of the roadway or within 75 feet of the entrance when on the opposite side of the roadway. An improperly parked vehicle may cause a crash.
9 . This road sign means:

This sign marks a high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane. HOV lanes are reserved for use by buses and vehicles with a driver and one or more passengers, as indicated on the sign.
10 . Motor vehicles are required to have:
Texas drivers are required to have license plates attached to both the front and rear of the vehicle. Any motor vehicle owned by a Texas resident cannot be parked or driven on a public street or highway unless it is properly registered and displays license plates.
11 . If pedestrian hybrid beacon signal lights are black, it means:
Pedestrian hybrid beacons are used at pedestrian crossings. If the lights on the signal turn black, drivers should proceed past the crosswalk with caution.
12 . When changing lanes you should not:
Before changing lanes, check your side and rearview mirrors for traffic approaching you from behind. Use your turn signal to let other drivers know you plan to change lanes. Check for other drivers who also may be moving into the same lane.
