FREE New Jersey DMV Practice Test #4 Page 3 of 7
New Jersey's DMV practise examinations have been revised for January 2025. It includes questions based on the New Jersey Driver Handbook's most essential traffic signals and regulations for 2025. Use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam to study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
On the practise exam, each question gets a tip and explanation to help you remember the concepts. The written component of the official New Jersey DMV test will include questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook.
To obtain a passing grade, you must correctly answer 40 of the 50 questions. Take this practise test from the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is available in several languages.
Using any kind of testing assistance will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take additional action against your driver's licence, so stay away from it.
15 . To change lanes you should:
Before changing lanes, you should activate your turn signal in the appropriate direction and check your rearview and side mirrors. Look over your shoulder in the direction you plan to move in order to check your blind spot and check the far lane to be sure no one else is trying to enter the same lane as you. Change lanes when you are sure it is safe to do so.
16 . A traffic light displaying a green arrow and a red light means that:
If a green arrow is shown with a red light, you can only drive in the direction of the arrow and only if the intersection is clear.
17 . This sign means:
Warning signs are usually diamond-shaped with black markings on a yellow background. They alert drivers to upcoming hazards. This sign indicates that there may be pedestrians crossing the road ahead.
18 . You are coming to a railroad crossing where the crossing signals are flashing. You should:
When approaching a railroad crossing, you must stop your vehicle no closer than 15 feet from the nearest rail if an installed electric or mechanical signal is giving warning of an approaching train. Be aware of other warning signs that may indicate an oncoming train, including seeing a lowered crossing gate or hearing an oncoming train.
19 . On a two-lane street, your vehicle is being followed by a fire engine that is not using its emergency signals. You should:
If you are being followed by an emergency vehicle that is not using its siren or flashing lights, you do not need to clear a path. Continue driving in a normal manner.
20 . When you park uphill on a street with a curb:
When parking on an incline where there is a curb, you should turn your wheels sharply to the left, away from the curb. This way, if your brakes fail, your vehicle will not roll into traffic.
21 . Stop lines are solid white lines painted across traffic lanes:
Stop lines are solid white lines painted across traffic lanes at intersections and pedestrian crosswalks. They indicate the exact location at which approaching drivers must stop.
