FREE Illinois DMV Practice Test #13 Page 3 of 3
For January 2024, this set of Illinois DMV practise tests has been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signs and rules for 2024 from the Illinois Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as information from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official DMV test.
You must properly answer 38 of the 35 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Illinois instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
26 . When driving in a construction zone:
You may encounter unexpected conditions in a construction zone. For the safety of yourself, other drivers, and construction workers, drive with extraordinary caution.
27 . An individual’s driving privileges may be suspended under which of the following conditions?
If you are over age 21, your license may be suspended for one year in the event that you are twice convicted within a one-year period of illegally transporting alcohol.
28 . A railroad crossbuck sign should be treated the same as a yield sign.
A railroad crossing crossbuck sign is considered a yield sign and a driver must yield the right-of-way to any oncoming trains and railroad equipment.
29 . The road surface of a bridge may be dangerous in winter because it may remain icy after the rest of the roadway is clear.
Bridges, overpasses, shaded spots, and curves may remain icy after the rest of a roadway is clear and dry.
30 . A driver does not need to allow as much distance when following a motorcycle as when following a car.
In dry conditions, motorcycles can stop more quickly than cars. Therefore, a driver behind a motorcycle should allow at least three to four seconds of following distance so that the motorcyclist has time to maneuver in an emergency.
31 . This road sign means:
Orange is the standard color for work zone activity. If you see orange signs, cones, or barrels while driving, stay alert and be prepared for unexpected driving conditions. This sign alerts drivers to an upcoming flagger whose directions should be obeyed by all drivers.
32 . This sign means:
Diamond-shaped signs are used to warn of actual or possible hazards. The color orange is used for warning signs usually found in construction or maintenance areas.
33 . A driver whose license has been revoked as a result of DUI must meet several requirements, including an evaluation for alcohol and drug problems and paying a reinstatement fee, to regain their license.
If you are convicted of a DUI, you must undergo an alcohol/drug evaluation, successfully complete a rehabilitation or alcohol/drug education program, have an administrative hearing with the Secretary of State, pay a reinstatement fee, and/or meet other requirements.
34 . What message will be found on a red octagon-shaped sign?
An octagonal (eight-sided) sign always means "stop." You must always come to a complete stop at this sign.
35 . This road sign means:
Warning signs are usually yellow with black markings. This sign indicates that there is a steep hill ahead. Slow down and be ready to shift to a lower gear to control your speed and protect your brakes from damage.
