FREE South Carolina DMV Practice Test #12 Page 2 of 4
The DMV practise exams in South Carolina have been updated for January 2024. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and laws for 2024 from the South Carolina Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official South Carolina DMV test.
You must properly answer 24 of the 30 questions to receive a passing mark. Use the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles' practise exam to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.

10 . The effect that lack of sleep has on your safe driving ability is the same as:
Fatigue and being under the influence of alcohol have similar effects on your ability to drive safely. Being awake for 24 hours in a row has the same effect on your driving as a blood alcohol level of 0.10 percent.
11 . At many intersections, a right turn may be made while the traffic light is red. Before turning right on red:
Unless otherwise posted, traffic stopped at a red signal may turn right. You must come to a complete stop before the crosswalk and yield to all pedestrians and cross traffic before beginning your turn.
12 . What color are pavement markings that separate traffic lanes moving in opposite direction?
Yellow lines are used in the center of the road to separate lanes of traffic moving in opposite directions.
13 . Which statement is true?
You must always stop on a two-lane road for a school bus that has its red or amber signal lights flashing as it is stopped to unload passengers. On a road with four or more lanes, you do not need to stop if the stopped bus is on the opposite side of the road. You do not need to stop if the bus is in a passenger loading zone that is completely off the main road.
14 . Motorists are not required to yield to pedestrians if they are walking against the traffic light.
You must always yield the right-of-way to pedestrians. Be aware of the possibility that pedestrians may misjudge traffic signals and cross against a light.
15 . When double solid yellow lines mark the center of the road and separate lanes of traffic, passing is:
A double yellow line means that traffic moving in both directions is prohibited from crossing the centerline to pass.
16 . You are driving too slowly if you:
You must never drive so slowly that you interfere with other cars or trucks that are moving at a normal speed.
