FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #17 Page 3 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.

Every time you have to stop quickly, it takes time and fuel to accelerate and get your vehicle back up to the speed of traffic. Drivers who look far ahead of their vehicles can slow down gradually or change lanes to avoid unnecessary braking, leading to better gas mileage.
20 . If you are following a school bus or tank truck, you should:
School buses and tank trucks carrying flammable liquids must stop at all railroad tracks before crossing, regardless of the presence of a train. Be prepared to stop at all railroad crossings if following one of these vehicles.

23 . Which of the following is true about driving on a wet roadway?
The faster you drive on a wet roadway, the less effective your tires will be at wiping the water from the road. If your speed becomes excessive enough, your tires will lose their grip on the road entirely and you will begin to hydroplane (that is, to slide down the road on a film of water).
24 . When should you adjust your mirrors?
When preparing to drive, you should be sure all of your equipment is in working order. Before starting your engine, adjust all mirrors so you can use them without having to lean forward or backward. In heavy traffic, when you really need them, you won’t have time to adjust your mirrors.
