FREE New Jersey DMV Practice Test #17 Page 7 of 7
New Jersey's DMV practise examinations have been revised for January 2024. It includes questions based on the New Jersey Driver Handbook's most essential traffic signals and regulations for 2024. Use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam to study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
On the practise exam, each question gets a tip and explanation to help you remember the concepts. The written component of the official New Jersey DMV test will include questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook.
To obtain a passing grade, you must correctly answer 40 of the 50 questions. Take this practise test from the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles to help you prepare for your instruction permit or driver's licence.
The DMV exam is available in several languages.
Using any kind of testing assistance will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take additional action against your driver's licence, so stay away from it.
43 . You may pass another vehicle:
You may not pass another vehicle on a hill or in a curve because you cannot see oncoming traffic and may cause a collision. Never pass another vehicle by driving onto the shoulder of a highway. Passing another vehicle by driving over a solid yellow line is prohibited.
44 . Is it legal cross a double solid yellow centerline to pass?
Two solid yellow lines down the center of a two-way road mean that neither lane of traffic may cross the lines, unless they are turning off of the roadway. A driver can cross double yellow lines when turning into or out of a driveway or entrance to a business. No passing is allowed over a solid yellow line.
45 . If an oncoming driver is heading toward you in your lane, you should:
If another vehicle is approaching you head-on in your lane, you should first honk your horn to attract attention. If the other driver does not move over, try to escape to the right. If you swerve left and the other driver corrects at the last instant, you will still crash. If a collision is unavoidable, brake firmly and steadily. Every mile per hour you slow down will reduce the impact.
46 . When dealing with pedestrians, a driver must:
You must do everything you can to prevent striking a pedestrian or another vehicle, regardless of the circumstances. It is the driver’s basic responsibility to be alert to pedestrians and to yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians, even if the pedestrian is crossing the street where they should not be.
47 . When driving on a snow-covered road, you should maintain a minimum following distance of:
If driving on a snow-covered roadway, you should maintain a following distance of at least six seconds. When driving on any slippery surface, you should extend your usual following distance.
48 . This sign means:
This sign warns drivers that the divided highway ends ahead.
49 . When entering a street from a driveway, you:
Always stop before entering the roadway from a driveway and yield to any approaching vehicles or crossing pedestrians. The stop should be made before crossing the sidewalk area. Failure to stop is unlawful.
50 . Alcohol causes:
Consuming even a small amount of alcohol will impair your vision, judgment, concentration, and coordination.
