FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #24 Page 4 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
25 . This road sign means:
This sign indicates that a divided highway begins ahead. The road will split into two one-way roadways separated by a median or divider. You must keep to the right.
26 . This road sign means:
Warning signs are usually yellow with black markings. These signs alert drivers to areas where bicycles may be crossing.
27 . You are driving when it begins to rain. You should:
When heavy rain reduces visibility, reduce your speed. Turn on your headlights so other drivers can see your vehicle. If the rain is so heavy that you are unable to see clearly, drive onto the shoulder and stop until the rain lets up.
28 . What can you do to reduce road rage?
To do your part to prevent road rage, you should follow laws, signs, signals, and pavement markings. Always signal your intention when changing lanes.
29 . To be safe when crossing a railroad, you should:
Railroad crossings are always dangerous. Drivers should look and listen for an approaching train coming from either direction before proceeding across the tracks. Watch for signals indicating an approaching train and never proceed until you are certain it is safe to do so.
30 . If you need to drive in foggy weather:
You are required to use your headlights during the day when visibility is reduced to 500 feet or less. When you first turn on your headlights, be sure they are adjusted to the low beam setting. Using high beams in fog or rain will cause the light to reflect back into your eyes, lowering visibility even more.
31 . What is the first thing you should try if your headlights fail?
If your headlights fail, first try the dimmer switch. This will often turn them on again.
32 . When stopping on snow or ice, drivers who are operating vehicles equipped with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) should:
When driving a vehicle equipped with an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), a driver should press the brake pedal firmly when stopping on a snowy or icy surface. The ABS will pump the brakes more rapidly than a driver would be able to.
