FREE Maine DMV Practice Test #15 Page 2 of 7
For January 2024, Maine's DMV practise exams have been updated. It includes questions based on the most important traffic signals and legislation for 2024 from the Maine Driver Handbook. To study for the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam, use actual questions that are very similar (often identical!) to the DMV driving permit test and driver's licence exam.
Each question on the practise exam has a tip and explanation to help you recall the ideas. Questions about traffic rules, traffic signs, and driving statutes, as well as knowledge from the Driver Handbook, will be included in the written portion of the official Maine DMV test.
You must properly answer 50 of the 60 questions to receive a passing mark. To help you prepare for your Maine instruction permit or driver's licence, take our DMV practise test.
The DMV exam is offered in a variety of languages.
Using any form of testing help will result in an automatic fail, and the DMV may take further action against your driver's licence, so avoid it.
9 . What does this road sign indicate?
Pentagonal signs indicate that you are in or are approaching a school zone and/or school crossing. Be aware of children when driving near a school zone and follow posted speed limits.
10 . When parallel parking, leave at least ____ between your car and the vehicles in front and in back of you.
When parking parallel to the road, you should leave at least two feet between your car and vehicles parked both in front of and behind your vehicle. Only parallel park where your vehicle can be clearly seen by drivers coming from both directions.
11 . After being pulled over by law enforcement, a driver should immediately exit the vehicle and quickly approach the officer’s squad car.
If stopped by law enforcement, you should stay in your vehicle with both hands clearly in sight on the steering wheel.
12 . Drivers should not pass other vehicles at:
Do not pass where a train or another vehicle is likely to enter or cross the road. Passing is dangerous at intersections, crossroads, railroad crossings, and entrances to businesses. While passing, your view of potential pedestrians, cars, or trains is blocked by the car you are passing.
13 . A diamond-shaped sign means:
Diamond-shaped signs are used to warn drivers of special conditions or hazards ahead. They are typically yellow or orange in color.
14 . To avoid traction loss on wet roads, you should:
To prevent hydroplaning, lower your speed in response to wet roads and keep your tires in good condition. If you detect a loss of control, take your foot off the gas, do not apply the brakes, maintain the direction of the vehicle, and allow the vehicle to slow to a manageable speed.
15 . Drivers turning left must yield to:
Drivers turning left must yield to oncoming vehicles that are driving straight ahead. A turning driver may only proceed when they can safely turn without affecting oncoming traffic.
16 . Which statement about speed is true?
As speed increases, the chance of a fatality increases. If you are moving faster than 80 miles per hour, you have almost no chance of living through a crash. Driving more slowly than other traffic can also be dangerous because other motorists may become impatient and make dangerous moves to pass you.
